Sister Sister

Well, I'm not being super consistent with my posts. Life gets kind of hectic and busy. This week I am preparing for recruitment for my sorority. One of the really awesome parts of this week is seeing my lovely sisters that I haven't seen all/most summer. Here are a couple of pictures from last night...
Ashley, Katie, me, Jasmine
This is part of my family. I absolutely love them, as I've mentioned before. Ashley and Jasmine are so much taller than me and my little Katie. My little Shalandra is short like us too. Ashley and Jasmine are already tall by nature, but then they decided to wear platform heels as well...thus the extreme height difference seen above. (And they're gorgeous) They really are amazing women and I feel so blessed to call them my friends, my sisters, and my family.

This is my sister friend Jessie. She is an amazing woman, friend, and sister. Last summer we spent three weeks together on a study abroad/mission trip called Mercer on Mission. We went to Poland for a couple of days, Armenia for two weeks, and Georgia (the country) for one week. We knew each other before since we were part of Mercer Service Scholars together and I was a new sister, but we didn't know each other very well. Through this trip and the experiences we had, we became so close. We were immediately paired together to share a room in our first stop in Poland and we ended up sharing a room (and bed) in Armenia and another room in Georgia. I am so thankful for this time together and that we are sisters. It has made our bond even closer.
Us from our trip to Georgia (the country)
I cannot thank her enough for all the times after our trip that she made me laugh and introduced me to new people or came running over to my apartment because she found out I was upset and crying. I know that she is always there for me and I hope she knows that I am always there for her. I am so thankful that our friendship continues and I know that after she graduates in December that we will remain close even with distance between us. Hopefully, we will one day be able to take our trip back to Armenia and create new wonderful memories.
*I wrote this last night and didn't post it and then today Jessie wrote me a super sweet note and made me cry. We have shared so many memories together and helped each other through so much it seems. I am so thankful for her.

I have been so blessed by the relationships I have gained through Alpha Gam and these are just a couple of examples. I could go on and on about my family and other sisters that have greatly impacted my life. I'm sure there will be other posts about them. As I reflect on these relationships and my sisters, I am filled with happiness, love, and gratitude. Thank you to all my sisters who have been there for me and made my collegiate experience so much more memorable! You will always have a special place in my heart.

Last lazy day

Today is a rare lazy day for me and probably one of my last. I will be busy getting ready for recruitment and school soon. I'm usually the type of person who has a list everyday of things I need to do. My mind is constantly running with thoughts and things I need to get done. It is usually hard for me to relax. (Thankfully, I have a wonderful boyfriend that will make sure I relax some during the semester when things get really crazy) Well today, I don't have a list of things to do! So this has been my view since about 9:00 this morning....

I loved catching How I Met Your Mother on tv, but now that I have Netflix, I am able to watch it in the correct order. :) Such a great show!
Also, I loooove all things wedding. So, I've indulged some and watched My Fair Wedding.
And I've been going through some of the Blog Star link ups. I'm really enjoying reading other people's blogs. Can't wait to meet more people. If you are stopping by, I'd love to know your favorite tv show.

Blog Star: Hi, I'm Lorin

Hey, I'm Lorin. I'm linking up with Mrs. Monologues for Blog Star. I am new to the blogging world and I am so excited to meet new people...even if I'm a little late. (If you have any tips on getting started, feel free to leave me a comment!)

A little bit about myself...
I'm a senior at Mercer University. I'm studying Sociology and absolutely love it. I have a lot of people ask me what that major is and what I'm going to do with it. I would say it's the study of society in general, the influence of society on people, and how people interact with society. What am I going to do with this degree? Well, that's a good question. I'm not sure right now.

I am a sister of Alpha Gamma Delta and love my Alpha Gam family. They are truly amazing women.
I've been highly involved with the Wesley Foundation of Macon, a campus ministry. It's been such a wonderful part of my time in college. I'm really going to miss it and all the people involved after this year. However, I'm so excited about starting back in the fall.

I also have wonderful family and friends. I have an wonderful boyfriend, Matt, whom I have been blessed to have in my life for several years now. (I'm sure you'll hear more about them soon)

This is my baby boy, Ryder. He's four years old.

I love dance and photography, although I don't get to do as much anymore. This blog was named after my love for photography. I see the world in pictures and I hope to share my pictures and my perspective with you. Also, if you came here from Sarah's blog, you've probably seen some of my pictures, since I've taken a lot of her. She's an amazing, beautiful model. See...

Well, this is a little bit of me. I hope you enjoy Life Through Lorin's Lens.

Hello Blog World

Hi,

I'm Lorin and I'm lucky to have my bestie Sarah from Life's Short...Poupard.
Me, Sarah

I've read Sarah's blog from the beginning and think she's an awesome blogger. I've seen how much she's loved blogging and all the wonderful people she's met through it.

I tried to blog a while ago, but it didn't really stick. I've been talking with Sarah lately and wanted to start really blogging, so sweet Sarah helped me set up this blog.

I look forward to sharing my life, my perspective, and my pictures through this blog.

I'm heading out of town this weekend, but will be posting more about me and my life once I get back. I can't wait!
